playroom inspiration

I am so into design blogs lately. There are so many creative people out there, it amazes me. I am not super creative myself, but I am good at copying. We have a big room in our basement that I want to turn into a playroom one day.

I already have a sink and cabinets in the space but I would love to paint them gray and add a farmhouse sink with butcher block countertops. It would be a great place to clean paint brushes, wash little hands, and organize my crafts. I love the open shelving and the beadboard wall behind it.

Right now the floors are a stained concrete so I would like to put down some plywood and paint it in a large diagnoal checker block pattern. Probably gray and white or blue-gray and white.

In one corner I want a big, comfy love seat to read stories to our little ones and to snuggle up and read my books. I would get a tufted ottoman too.

I would put some of these cute pictures on the wall from the store Animal Cracker on etsy.

Love this table and chairs from Pottery Barn Kids. Especially the chairs with the woven seat and the bright colors.

I would love to paint a mural on one wall. Love this idea from Pottery Barn Kids.

And of course I would love to add a little kitchen. I love the one from Pottery Barn Kids but it is way too expensive. Maybe I can find it on ksl classifieds eventually. But I LOVE the DIY blue kitchen. So adorable.

Pretty cute, huh? One day I guess, I still have time until Eliza is old enough to appreciate it and hopefully by the time I get around to this project we'll have lots more little Thomas' to play in it too.

Cute ideas. You could just paint the concrete floor. I think you need a different kind of paint but I've seen lots of pictures of it done with or without patterns and it looks great. Add a cute rug for warmth on the concrete. Have fun.
