5-in-1 Blog

Sorry in advance, this is a very long blog. More than anything I wanted to get this all in for journalling purposes.

Platt's Cabin
On Labor Day weekend, the weekend after my  San Diego, trip Colin and I were invited up to the Platt's cabin (friends of the Thomas fam) in Oakley, UT.  Colin was very excited to get away especially since he hadn't had any vacations this summer.  Colin has lots of childhood memories of this cabin which I never realized before; forts, games, exploring.  It was fun to see him so happy to be there.  He was totally relaxed like he didn't have a worry in the whole world, which I was glad to see, he really needed a break from the day-to-day stresses.  The cabin is beautifully located along the bank of a flowing river, nestled at the edge of the mountainside with trees everywhere and lots of fresh air.  It was so peaceful to be there and remember all that God has given us.  We went tubing in the river, took several naps, read books, went on walks and explored.  The weekend came and went to quickly.  Goodbye to summer.

Babysitting
Chris and Lissy were having a party and asked us to watch Nick and Noey for the night.  We were happy to watch the kids and had  a lot of fun.  My mom helped me watch the kids until Colin got home from work.  We took them to the park and taught Nick how to roll down the hill, which was hilarious because he couldn't figure it out but kept trying to copy Noey anyway.  We made "Pigs-in-a-blanket" for dinner and Noey and I decorated cupcakes while Colin and Nick watched Meet the Robinsons.

27!!!
I had my 27th birthday on Sept 17.  I had to work a 12 hour day so it didn't really feel like my birthday, oh well, I guess that is what happens when you get older.  Colin, Kacy and Ros (Kacy's friend) made me a pancake breakfast before work.  My dad bought me some gorgeous pink roses that I got to enjoy all week.  During the day I got so many call's, text messages and emails from everyone, thank you to all for remembering me.  Later that night Kacy surprised me with a beautiful, gourmet dinner when Colin and I got home from work.  The table was set beautifully and we had pork tenderloin with a mango salsa, coconut rice and asparagus.  She is quite the cook, she did a great job!  Then on Sunday my whole family came over as well as Tari and Mindy to eat and play corn-hole!  It was a great birthday.  Thanks to all!

North Dakota?

It's official, my mom and Sal are moving to North Dakota. At least we got to spend some time with her before she moved during the summer. Sometime in August we went to eat lunch and visit Quilted Bear (the mecca of crafty home decor).

House Hunting
As some of you may know Colin and I have been house hunting since the end of July for a home in Heber City/Midway where the air is cleaner.  We have looked at A LOT of homes, and have made and accepted an offer on a cute house in Heber City.  Right now we are under contract and are expected to close on October 23rd.  We just had our inspection last week and everything looks great.  I am not sure what else we have to do between now and Oct 23 but we have been busy with getting everything done.  We are excited, nervous, overwhelmed, happy and just can't wait to live in Heber!  You will have to come and visit us soon, and bring a paint brush because we will need help! I'll post pictures soon.
